Dennis R Moore

Called Dr Drums by the rest of The Dawgs, Dennis is a self-taught drummer.  According to legend, Dr Drums developed his skills keeping  rhythm on the back seat of his fathers station wagon as they traveled through the southern United States.

Using whatever was at hand from table tops and pots and pans to upturned boxes, he continued to practice until he could buy his first set of drums from a pawn shop.

His early venture in playing professionally included a stint in a 3 member country band called “The Country Boys”.  While it gave him a chance to perform publicly he knew it was not what he wanted.

While searching for the right musical direction, Dennis met and married his wife, Nancy.  They had three children and lots of pets. While devoting himself to being a good father, he still wanted to make some music and was soon looking for someone to play with.

Later, at the invitation of a friend he played some progressive country in a local bar where he met and first played with bass guitarist Randy LeBlanc.  Again, both enjoyed making music but knew they were not in the right place.

While keeping “day jobs” in a steel mill, Dennis, LeBlanc, and a friend formed a 3 piece group known as “The HighRollers”.  The band was a regular at an Italian restaurant known as Alfredo’s where they played some hard hitting rock music and developed a local following.

Bad luck then sent the Dr to a medical doctor following a bad fall on his “day job”  which injured his back.  For several years, his physical pain prohibited his ability to play the drums.  But after 2 surgeries and extensive rehab THE DR WAS BACK!

The Dr rejoined with bass guitarist, Randy LeBlanc and lead guitarist, Dennis Duval  and some talented brothers, James and  Jay Davis.   Known as “Feed Us” because they were frequently playing only for the food they were served while they entertained at house-warmings, retirements, anniversaries, and political rallys.

Other interests attracted the Davis brothers who are currently performing with “Next Of Kin”. And the hunt for a vocalist and rhythm guitarist began.

The search ended the night Nelson Cullum showed up for a rehearsal.  He sat in and it was obvious his style matched that of Duval, LeBlanc, and Moore. Moreover, he was a vocalist and a rhythm guitarist.  The perfect match and the pack was formed.

As the group continued to grow and develop their own special style of music, they started to call Dennis… DR Drums because his initials DR Moore appeared on their caller ID boxes.

The group named themselves the “Three Legged Dawg” and  began to make southern rock music that as they put it “howled”.  And so do their fans.

Following each song, members of the audience throw back their heads and howl at the moon in salute to the talent of “Three Legged Dawg”.

Dr Drums has found his place in the music world as one of the three Grand Paws (that’s as in… a real Grandpa) in Three Legged Dawg!
